From Data Centers to Crypto Facilities: Real-Time Power Grid Monitoring Drives Advantage
by Alex Bennitt
Good news for traders, utilities, and independent power producers – in a market first, you can access real-time power grid monitoring for large flexible load centers, which are increasingly having an outsized impact.
In addition to Live Power’s real-time generation and transmission data, you can now get quickly updated information about how large loads are operating. This includes large flexible loads (e.g., crypto facilities), which majorly impact the power grid, and large non-flexible loads (e.g., data centers).
Load Is Increasingly Impacting the Power Market
It’s no secret that power grid operations are changing. Distributed energy resources are increasing, residential demand curve is shifting, and large loads are more frequently connecting to (and impacting) the power grid.
When facilities connect, at what level, and how they operate in real-time can have an outsized impact on markets. One of the best examples of this is Atlas Power, which rocketed congestion up in multiple markets back in 2023 and 2024. Being able to track load facilities in real-time can provide invaluable feedback on how the market and facilities respond to grid dynamics.

What Do We Cover?
With Live Power, you’re getting a full view of how generation, transmission, or large load facilities are operating. You can view high-accuracy grid data delivered every 60 seconds from a network of proprietary, patented sensors. This means that you can delve into the power grid dynamics that matter most to your organization.
Why Is This Data Valuable?
Market data on large load operations is hard to come by, and in some ISOs, unavailable. With Live Power we’re filling in the gaps and providing unique real-time data that you can’t find anywhere else.
Where Are We Going Next?
You tell us! We monitor about 70% of the facilities requested by our customers. Talk to us about what you’d like us to monitor next through support@yesenergy.com.
Want to Learn More about Real-Time Power Grid Monitoring and Large Loads?
We’ll take a deep dive into major loads and how they’re influencing the power grid in our upcoming webinar, Flexible Load: An Emerging Market Driver, on June 11 at 11 a.m. Mountain Time. Here, you’ll discover more about how flexible loads are becoming an emerging market driver, explore the behavior of flexible load resources – especially curtailment patterns that impact pricing – and see specific examples of flexible loads’ impact on the grid.
